Sending your kids back to school in January is often not met with the same enthusiasm and preparation that is mustered at the end of a long summer. After a busy holiday season, it is hard to summon the energy necessary to prepare your kids with the same gusto as you did in August. Rest assured, many parents will share in this sentiment. Below, we’ve included a few ideas to help your kids get started again on the right foot.
- School Lunches: In August you probably sent them with every food group and sweet little notes hidden in that secret pouch in their squeaky clean lunch box that matched their backpack. Now you’re lucky if they make it out the door with the peanut butter on the bread. Here is a list of some great ideas!
- Get a Handle on Laundry: The morning rush can be a challenge, but one extremely effective way to avoid the extra stress and hassle is to get your family’s laundry done on time. Expecting to be able to get everyone fully clothed down to the right socks by just winging it and pulling stuff out of the dryer morning of is probably not that realistic. If your child(ren) use school uniforms, this is extra important. Using a laundry pickup and delivery service can be a lifesaver. Check out White Street Laundry for all your laundry needs.
- Take Family Time: It can be hard to reconnect regularly as a family once school starts up again. While eating together as a family can be a fairly easy fix, you might try scheduling movie nights once a week, or going on long walks after dinner. We live in a go go go society, but it is important for kids to take a moment and enjoy their surroundings.
